HIP SURGERY | LAS VEGAS
Dr. Andrew Lee, MD. Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. Motion preservation specialist. Nevada Spine Clinic, Las Vegas and Southern Nevada.
Dr. Andrew Lee approaches every hip case at Allegiant Spine Clinic in Las Vegas with the same philosophy that guides his spine work: preserve motion whenever possible, replace only when necessary. Whether that means hip resurfacing, labral repair, or total hip arthroplasty, his goal is to return patients to full activity with the least invasive approach the anatomy allows. Dr. Lee uses the anterior approach for hip replacement, which avoids cutting major muscles and allows faster, more comfortable recovery.
The entire hip joint is replaced with a prosthetic implant. Dr. Andrew Lee performs total hip arthroplasty in Las Vegas using the anterior approach, preserving posterior muscles and tendons for faster recovery with fewer restrictions.
Patients with advanced hip arthritis, avascular necrosis, or deterioration unresponsive to conservative care.
Walking same day. Light activity 4 to 6 weeks.
Full recovery 3 to 6 months.
Only the femoral head is replaced while the natural socket is preserved. Dr. Lee performs hemiarthroplasty primarily for hip fractures where the acetabulum remains healthy and intact.
Patients with femoral neck fractures or isolated femoral head damage where the socket is intact.
Walking within 24 hours. Recovery 6 to 12
weeks
Rather than removing the femoral head, Dr. Lee caps it with a smooth metal covering and replaces only the damaged socket surface. Hip resurfacing preserves more bone than total replacement and is preferred for younger active patients in Las Vegas.
Younger active patients with hip arthritis who want to preserve bone stock and maintain high activity levels.
Light activity 6 to 8 weeks. Return to sport 4
to 6 months.
The labrum is the cartilage ring that stabilizes the hip socket. When torn it causes deep groin pain, clicking, and locking. Dr. Lee repairs hip labral tears arthroscopically through small incisions in appropriate candidates.
Patients with hip labral tears causing groin pain, clicking, catching, or reduced range of motion
Light activity 4 to 6 weeks. Return to sport 4
to 6 months.
Femoroacetabular impingement occurs when abnormal bone growth causes hip bones to rub together, damaging the labrum and cartilage. Dr. Lee corrects FAI arthroscopically in Las Vegas by reshaping abnormal bone and repairing associated labral damage.
Patients with femoroacetabular impingement causing groin pain, stiffness, and reduced hip range of motion.
Light activity 6 to 8 weeks. Full activity 4
to 6 months.
